A few thoughts about gifts and abilities~
James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
If you will permit me (if you won’t, there’s a comment section), I will address the subject of gifts that we may possess as Christians! It may seem some people have a lot more than we do! All of the money, all the looks, musical ability, popularity, social adjustment, education, stable family background! And we’re ugly, backward people from a dysfunctional family? And we may think God isn’t fair to have favored some more than others!
I will back up quickly! When God created everything, it was all very good! The entrance of sin is what skewed all of creation so that we all groan and travail in pain together, until He makes all things new (and perfect) again!
The important thing is that we remember that everything good we have is from Him! We should be grateful for the home we have, the family members, the education, the country~ even if we didn’t finish much formal education, most of the world’s population is illiterate with few resources! We have the Bible! It is the key and backbone of wisdom and knowledge, and preserved for us to this day, miraculously! If you’re reading this, you must have access to some electronics and social media!
Christian fiction characters, David and Mallory and their friends, of course, seem to have everything going for them! And yet they all are faced with occasional obstacles and difficulties! www.paularaewallace.com
The most important thing to remember about whatever it is we’re gifted with, is that it’s all from Him! We shouldn’t become proud or condescending to people around us! That’s not to say, we have to hang out with everybody, but it does mean, we give God the glory for who we are and what we attain! We should be faithful and wise stewards of the gifts placed in our hands! We need to humbly recognize the truth found in the book of Luke:
Luke 12:48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
Let’s remember to thank Him for gifts we take so for granted, and humbly use them for Him and His kingdom!
