The hits keep coming because: Satan is real, powerful, and a sworn enemy of God! (Even if you are not a born-again child of God, the devil hates you; the reason why is because God loves you.) He is an enemy of all that is good!

It’s important to recognize the enemy! Don’t blindly assume you don’t have any! He is real, vicious, violent; without love, mercy, or any redeeming social qualities! Evil at its incomprehensible worst!

He is so powerful that the archangel Michael didn’t take him on, but took shelter behind the Lord in the dispute over Moses’ body! As with every subject, the Bible gives light and clarity! We need to be aware of Satan’s devices, while not revering or deifying him! We just need to be aware that he’s out there, and he’s out to get us!

Ultimately, he is defeated and he knows this; which is what has him on a rampage to inflict as much pain and chaos as he can!

As we take warning of Satan, the important overriding truth is the omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresence of the great, loving Creator-God! And the assurance that the fallen, created being, Satan, is none of these: all-knowing, all-powerful, or able to be everywhere at once! Although he has legions of helpers, he is not to be revered or held in awe! We are simply looking at his incessant meddling and interference to destroy joy and harmony! To overcome him, we fix our focus on God’s beauty, love, and power!

Satan’s efforts for keeping the hits coming are two-pronged:

1. To keep the unsaved from coming to a saving knowledge of God and His redemption plan through his Son, Jesus, by any means possible: ending our lives, keeping us distracted from eternal considerations, offering false hope and solace in things or substances, to name a few!
2. To stop the progress and success of Christians who seek to glorify Christ: by robbing their joy (the hits), making them discouraged, angry, bitter, sidetracked, or absolutely any way possible! When the hits come, and they will, the way to fight off defeat is by thanking God for permitting whatever it is to get your attention, by trusting Him to see you through to victory on the other side, and by praising Him for all the blessings we fail to notice because of our focus on the problems!

The devil can’t stand to see happy, praising, prosperous Christians; and he doesn’t want anyone else to see them either! He has to keep the ‘Hits Coming’: but whatever they are, his worst devices, God can turn around for our good and His glory, if we keep our eyes on Him!
